Renovo Data Corporation, a platinum sponsor of TechLINKS and a leader in agentless Remote Office/Branch Office (ROBO) online backup and disaster recovery solutions, announced today that Richard Douglas will serve as Chairman of their Board of Advisors. Specifically, Mr. Douglas will act as a senior advisor to Renovo Data and provide strategic direction and thought-leadership. “We are very fortunate to have someone like Richard, with years of sales management experience in IT, join our board, said Lynn Do, President and CEO of Renovo Data. “Richard will play a consultative role for us, primarily from a business process management (bpm) and strategic initiatives standpoint.”
With over 25 years of professional experience, Renovo Data is getting a senior veteran in Douglas. Mr. Douglas started his career in the computer business with Honeywell Corporation, and had many different positions, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, software development, and branch manager. Climbing through the ranks with Honeywell, Richard eventually became the leader of one of Honeywell’s main markets at the time. When Honeywell merged their computer business with General Electric’s to form Honeywell Information Systems in 1970, it was Richard Douglas who became the VP and GM of the Systems Mainframe Division, consisting of approximately six-to-seven thousand employees worldwide. Honeywell Information Systems performed very well in the mainframe market, in which they manufactured and sold mainframes, developed software, and built operating systems to support that software. Douglas was also VP of the Storage and Communications Systems Group for three years, prior to leaving Honeywell.
After leaving Honeywell, Mr. Douglas traveled to Boulder, Colorado, to work for StorageTek, which manufactured and sold peripheral devices and was bought by Sun Microsystems, Inc. in 2005. Here he was the VP and GM of Worldwide Sales and Services. Moving along, he left StorageTek to join Microtest Inc., which manufactured local area network test equipment. Richard came on as the CFO for Microtest, and assumed this position for about three years. Following this stellar career, Mr. Douglas has done independent consulting work in several roles and capacities for the past few years.
